I would like to offer a hearty congratulations to all of my students on completing their first week of first grade! This is such an important milestone to celebrate!
Over the weekend, I would like to encourage you to read even more with your children. I am loving the amount of filled out reading logs that I've seen over the past week. It is so important to share reading time with the kids, and I know that they enjoy it!
Another thing I would encourage you to do with your children is ask them about their Viking Tickets. The school is using these as an incentive program, and students who receive tickets (for being Responsible, Respectful, and Ready) are entered into a drawing for an extra recess on Fridays. This week, we earned 170+ tickets, and we didn't even start until Wednesday afternoon! I know for a fact that each student received one, so I'm sure that they'll be excited to tell you.
As a reminder, we need all of the green forms that were sent home this week. As of now, I have about ten that are signed. Make sure you sign these, or your children won't be able to participate in viewing the eclipse on Monday! It is also extremely important that they keep their eclipse glasses on while they are viewing it. We talked about the importance of this in class, but a few reminders at home would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for sharing your children with me! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with them!
